Halloween is also a big holiday for my dad. My dad’s always been into Halloween and every year we accumulate more decorations. We have 5 blow up thingies, several dozen strings of orange lights, and countless smaller decorations. Ever since I can remember Halloween has been a big holiday for my dad. I don’t know why he likes it so much but he loves buying new decorations. There’s one rule for his decorations though, they have to be orange. The lights are orange, the blowups are orange, the fake zombies and bats are orange, the fog machine is orange, everything is orange. We have so many decorations that we normally have to designate an entire weekend to set everything up. Before we start putting any of the decorations up we have to bring up the umpteen boxes from the basement that contain the decorations that my dad has amassed over the past twenty years. The hardest part of setting up the decorations is the lights. We put the lights in the bushes in front of our house, we go up on the roof and drape the lights down the side and front of the house and we wrap the lights around the porch railings and the railings leading up to our house. After the lights are set up we open the boxes containing the blow up things. Each blow up thing is around six by six by six feet and is lit up by a bulb inside of the blow up.

  1. That's so fun :) My family doesn't do much decorating, and since we moved to our current home we don't even put up lights or anything like that. I think that's a really fun tradition your dad has -- I'd definitely be excited if I were a kid and saw a huge glowing orange house around the corner to go trick-or-treat at!
